Putting Choice First: InMobi Acquires a Consent Management Platform

We are pleased to announce that InMobi has acquired Quantcast Choice, a leading Consent Management Platform (CMP) designed to help publishers like you seamlessly align with rapidly changing global privacy regulations.

As privacy regulations like General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in Europe and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) evolve, CMPs have become critical for publishers to ensure compliance and maintain ad revenue. The lack of a proven CMP often results in lost opportunities for publishers, as many of the leading demand partners require the use of a CMP that supports the latest privacy standards maintained by the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB).

CMPs: What You Need to Know

If you’re still unsure of what a CMP is or how to incorporate one into your strategies, we have your back. Here are a few quick things you should know about CMPs to help get you started.

What is a CMP?

A CMP allows app and website publishers to manage user consent for data processing and advertising activities in accordance with data privacy regulations. It provides a user-friendly interface for obtaining and managing user consent preferences, thereby ensuring compliance and enhancing user trust. For publishers with users in Europe and the US, a CMP is an essential tool to have in their arsenal.

Why is it important to have a Google and IAB compliant CMP?

Our CMP is fully compliant with Google and the IAB. Why is this important? Having a Google and IAB compliant CMP is crucial for the following reasons:

  1. It adheres to industry standards and policies.
  2. It allows publishers to build user trust through transparent data practices.
  3. It mitigates risks of non-compliance, avoiding potential penalties.
  4. It enables a seamless adaptation to evolving data privacy regulations.

It is important to note that CMPs are required to implement IAB’s new policies and specifications (TCF v2.2) by November 20, 2023. Additionally, if a partner does not adopt a Google-certified CMP by January 16, 2024, no ads from Google AdSense, Ad Manager, or AdMob will be eligible to serve on EEA and UK traffic.
