Walk us through your journey at InMobi
I started my journey with InMobi over six years ago, when an ex-colleague from my previous company introduced me to the organization and the role. I joined the team as the Head of Business Development – Gaming for regions covering the Americas and Europe. Having been on the supply side of the ad tech ecosystem since 2011, I had some great partnerships in North America and Europe which came in handy for my new role here. But after spending a considerable time at InMobi, the world started opening up and I discovered that there were untapped publisher partners scattered across the globe and we at InMobi had resources and solutions to cater to them in all those markets as well.
That is when I realized there was much more out there for me to pursue and decided to work on this with the leadership team. Had the appropriate discussions and created a truly global role for myself. In 2020, I stepped up as the Global Head of Business Development for Gaming. This was a very special movement for me since it was a role that was created out of my initiative to take the gaming business to more international markets.
What do you enjoy the most about working at InMobi?
I truly enjoy working with the bright minds we have on the team and the diversity they bring to the culture. InMobi has allowed me to build and grow my team autonomously, and now have a wide range of colleagues and partners I interact with daily. Also, the trust that the leadership has put in me and my knowledge of the mobile gaming industry and trends, makes work super smooth and a delightful experience.
Your proudest accomplishment at InMobi so far?
I am very proud of how I have been able to build my international team. Spread across seven different countries, we all work together as one. Building meaningful relationships and seeing them grow progressively in their professional as well as personal space feels great. At the same time, I am also extremely proud of the contribution we make towards InMobi’s growing revenues. There have been times when over 60% of the daily revenue burn has come from the app developers and publishers that have been brought on by my team.
Which InMobi value do you resonate the most with?
“Thinking big and being entrepreneurial” has been a fundamental InMobi value throughout my journey. Whether it is expanding from just several territories that I started with to now having expanded it on a global level, to identifying new key markets and developing plans on how to approach them – all of these have stemmed from that very value.
What is it like heading a global team?
Working across time zones is always a challenge, but it is a challenge that I enjoy. It is fun to experience different cultures, especially when traveling – something I truly enjoy. The rewarding aspect is getting to meet the team and our partners face to face, and building a relationship and network which is not constrained in any manner.
A piece of advice for anyone looking to join your team
Firstly, you have got to be willing to make new, meaningful relationships that will last a long time. Secondly, since it is the gaming team we are talking about, it is always an added advantage if you are passionate about mobile games and play them yourself.
